Why I rebuilt this site on Azure

WordPress out, Astro in. What the new stack looks like and what it costs.

This site used to run on WordPress. It now runs as a static site on Azure Static Web Apps, with DNS in Azure DNS and the code in GitHub. Total hosting cost: roughly the price of a coffee a year.

Why bother? Two reasons. I wanted the site to be something I build and tweak in code, with Claude Code doing the heavy lifting on design. And I wanted the whole thing to live in Azure, end to end, because that’s the platform I work with every day.

More on the setup, and the DNS gotchas, in a follow-up.
